Artist & Educator
Alma Landeta (they/them) is a trans and mixed-race visual artist and educator who centers queer joy as liberation through drawings, paintings, site-specific installations, and public programming. Their work reflects their lived experiences while celebrating the communities that have held space for them to live authentically. Their background as an educator has taught them how to incorporate culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate frameworks for facilitating social practice art.
Landeta received a Masters of Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. They have exhibited nationally and internationally. Landeta was the recipient of the King Artist Residency (2024), the Artists’ Adaptability Grant (2021-2022), the Homebody Fellowship at Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio (2022), and the Latinx Teaching Artist Fellowship (LTAF) at Root Division (2020-2022).
